CONSENT AND IDENTIFYING CONSENT

Consent is a verbal and affirmative agreement to engage in an activity. Absence of consent during all sorts of sexual activities is considered sexual assault.

✅ There’s only one way to know for sure if someone has given their consent: if they tell you.

✅ Some individuals are unable to give consent, or even if they can verbally indicate that they consent, they're deemed to lack the ability to make informed or full consent (e.g., minors below the age of consent or an intoxicated person).

✅ Drinks and Drugs affect consent; consent must be given freely. If you're intoxicated, your capacity to make decisions can be affected and your decision might be influenced by drugs and alcohol. And if you’re sexual in any way with someone who's drunk or high and doesn’t know what’s going on and therefore can’t give informed consent, it’s equivalent to sexually assaulting or raping them.

✅ If your partner seems tense or uncomfortable, pause and ask them how they’re feeling. However, if you're uncomfortable with anything you're doing, don’t just rely on your partner to notice your body language - tell them how you're feeling and if you want to stop or take a break.
