Dear International students,
We've got news which has been in the works for several months now - 1 year and 3 months to be precise! 🎉
VOIS Cyprus invites you to the launching of ‘THE GAP’ meaning (Trainings, Health and Housing, Employment, Gender, Access to information and Prejudice). THE GAP project is funded by the European Union under the Cypriot Civil Society in Action VII Grant Scheme, co-funded by the USA Embassy of Nicosia and implemented by VOIS Cyprus.
THE GAP aims to contribute towards efforts aimed at enhancing the access of international students to their human rights and combating discrimination against them in the northern part of Cyprus. Specifically, this project intends to strengthen the capacity of VOIS Cyprus to better advocate for and safeguard the rights and needs of the international student community, and to increase the awareness and capacity of the international student community and the duty-bearers about the rights and needs of international students.
This EU and US Embassy funded project which we will be implementing, will run for three years, and should enable us address many of the concerns you have brought to us over the last months and years. We will be working in partnership with other civil society organizations to campaign for the rights and needs of the international student community to be upheld and protected by our universities, as well as, other local responsible bodies, including but not limited to the ministries, municipalities and parliament.
We hope that you can join us fist for this launch, and going forward, together as one student body, work hand in hand to campaign for the respect and protection of our human rights and dignity.
📅 THE GAP Launch is scheduled for Thursday, December 9th (19:30 – 21:10).
