Following our efforts to address and tackle racially motivated discrimination in Northern Cyprus, we addressed the topic of Racism amongst 5 international students residing in the TRNC and asked them to share some of their experiences.
We acknowledge that racially motivated discrimination includes a wide spectrum of behavior that affect us all differently.
Racism can present itself in the form of subtle micro-aggressions, or at its peak, as a form of extreme violence. It might be more progressive to seek to learn about the experiences of people, rather than brushing them off as not being an issue.
We can all still agree that the issue of racism is a topic that is in need of being addressed by our community, for us to enforce and ensure a just and safe environment for everyone.
In the coming week, we will be dedicating our platform to further address and highlight international students’ experiences with Racism in the TRNC. Stay tuned!
