Today, VOIS Cyprus met with the Chairperson of the TDP political party, Mine Atli, to discuss the challenges facing foreign students in the TRNC. We discussed issues ranging from the price hikes for housing which affects everyone living in Cyprus and especially foreign students, increased hate speech, racism and xenophobia, violence against women, freedom of speech and association, and entrepreneurship opportunities for all young people living in the TRNC.
Mine promised the full backing of her party and to work with VOIS Cyprus to seek common solutions to the problems facing foreign students, as well as the local community. We agreed to have a series of meetings in the future to specifically look into these issues and engage in joint campaigns.
We urge all foreign students to get in touch with us as we work towards addressing our many challenges. We understand that the housing market affects us all and we are committed to working and lobbying local politicians to our cause. Be patient with us. Soon we will need all of your voices. Watch this space.
